NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE β€” The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced Monday it is recruiting qualified candidates for a police officer position within its Protective Services Unit, offering a monthly salary range of $4,562 to $6,825.

The agency is looking to fill one vacancy for a TBI Police Officer position based in Davidson County. The role serves as a security component for TBI operations across the state.

Primary Responsibilities

The position requires serving as first responder for any incident that may occur at Tennessee Bureau of Investigation facilities or any area where the TBI may be operating. Officers will perform law enforcement duties to protect themselves and others, including using force up to and including deadly force when necessary.

Duties include performing strenuous physical activity such as pursuing, subduing, and apprehending suspects, participating in physical training activities including Close Quarters Conflict Control and firearms qualification, and operating vehicles in both emergency and non-emergency situations.

Investigative Support Role

The officer will serve as initial contact for anyone conducting business at TBI facilities to support all agency operations. The position also involves assisting TBI Special Agents in investigative operations including human trafficking cases, search warrants, arrest warrants, prisoner transports, and crime scene security.

Background investigation duties form another key component of the role, conducting checks on internal and external customers to support TBI hiring practices and comply with state statute requirements.

Qualification Requirements

Candidates must possess graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree, or completion of two years of qualifying coursework. The TBI offers flexibility in meeting education requirements through relevant experience.

Qualifying full-time professional law enforcement experience, relevant military experience, or police work can substitute for the required education to a maximum of two years, according to the job posting.
