Severe Thunderstorms Strike Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois Region
Dangerous thunderstorms with 50 mph winds and torrential rain swept through southeast Missouri and three neighboring states early this morning.

PADUCAH, KENTUCKY β A line of severe thunderstorms moved through southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, and western Kentucky early this morning, bringing dangerous winds and heavy rainfall to the region.
The National Weather Service in Paducah issued a special weather statement at 3:22 a.m. CDT on June 12, warning residents of the storm system tracking southeastward across the affected areas.
Dangerous Conditions Reported
The thunderstorm complex produced wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph, according to weather service officials. Torrential downpours and frequent lightning accompanied the strong winds as the system moved through the region.
Weather forecasters warned residents to expect hazardous conditions from the storm system during the early morning hours.
Multi-State Impact
The severe weather affected a broad swath of the central United States, with impacts reported across four states. Southeast Missouri bore the brunt of the initial storms before they continued their southeastward progression.
Southern Illinois communities also experienced the severe conditions as the storm line advanced through the region. Southwest Indiana and western Kentucky faced similar threats from the same weather system.
