Flood Advisory Expires for St. Louis Metro Area as Waters Recede
National Weather Service lifts flood advisory for St. Louis metro after heavy rain ends and waters recede, though some road closures remain.

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI β The National Weather Service canceled a flood advisory for the St. Louis metropolitan area Sunday morning after flood waters receded and heavy rainfall ended across the region.
The advisory, issued at 10:39 a.m. CDT, expired at 10:45 a.m. for portions of east central Missouri, including Saint Charles, Saint Louis, and Saint Louis City, according to the NWS St. Louis office.
Flooding Threat Diminishes
Weather officials reported that urban area and small stream flooding no longer poses a threat to the affected communities. The brief advisory covered areas that had experienced significant rainfall earlier Sunday morning.
Heavy rain that had prompted the initial flood warning has moved out of the region, allowing water levels to return to normal conditions.
Road Closures Remain
Despite the improved conditions, the National Weather Service advised residents to continue heeding remaining road closures throughout the affected areas. Local authorities have not yet reopened all routes that were closed due to standing water and flood conditions.
The quick resolution of the flooding situation reflects the brief but intense nature of the weather system that moved through the St. Louis area Sunday morning. Weather officials had initially expressed concern about potential urban flooding and rising water levels in small streams and creeks throughout the metropolitan region.
The advisory covered some of the most densely populated areas in the region, including the city of St. Louis and surrounding Saint Charles and Saint Louis counties. These areas are particularly susceptible to flash flooding due to urban development and stormwater drainage systems.
Weather Pattern Moves East
The weather system responsible for the heavy rainfall has continued moving eastward, leaving clearer conditions in its wake across the St. Louis metropolitan area. No additional flood advisories or warnings are currently in effect for the region.
Residents who encountered flooded roadways during the morning hours are advised to remain cautious and avoid driving through any remaining standing water, even as overall conditions continue to improve throughout the day.
