Cumberland County Man Indicted, Arrested in 2025 Crossville Arson Case
Toby Turner, 44, was arrested June 19 and booked into the Cumberland County Jail on a $100,000 bond after a grand jury indicted him for a 2025 arson in Crossville.

CROSSVILLE, TENNESSEE β A Cumberland County man faces a felony arson charge following an investigation into a fire set in August 2025, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Fire Investigated Since August 2025
On August 28, 2025, special agent fire investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into a fire that broke out in the 800 block of Turner Road in Crossville. Agents determined the fire had been intentionally set.
Investigators gathered evidence alleging that Toby Turner, date of birth May 4, 1982, was responsible for starting the blaze. The TBI did not release further details about the nature or extent of the fire damage.
Grand Jury Returns Indictment
Last week, the Cumberland County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Turner with one count of arson. Turner was taken into custody on June 19, 2026, by the Overton County Sheriff’s Office and subsequently transferred to the Cumberland County Jail.
His bond has been set at $100,000, according to the TBI.
Investigation by TBI and Sheriff’s Office
The joint investigation between the TBI’s special agent fire investigators and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office spanned approximately ten months before the case was presented to the grand jury.
The TBI reminded the public that the charges and allegations referenced are accusations of criminal conduct and are not evidence. Turner is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt through due process of law.
