MOUNT PLEASANT, TENNESSEE β€” Two individuals face multiple felony charges after a Maury County grand jury indicted them in connection with an arson fire at a construction site in January.

Amos Wall, 32, and Nashlee Mitchell, 30, were charged following a joint investigation by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agent fire investigators, the Mount Pleasant Fire Department, and Mount Pleasant Police Department into a residential fire that occurred January 28th.

The fire damaged a home under construction along Wall Street in Mount Pleasant. Investigators determined the blaze was intentionally set by Wall with assistance from Mitchell, according to evidence presented to the grand jury.

Multiple Felony Charges Filed

On Wednesday, the Maury County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Wall with two counts of Aggravated Arson, one count of Arson, and two counts of Aggravated Burglary. Mitchell faces two counts of Criminal Facilitation of Aggravated Arson.

The investigation began at the request of 22nd Judicial District Attorney General Brent Cooper. TBI special agent fire investigators joined local authorities to examine the suspicious fire at the construction site.

Arrests Made Friday

TBI agents, Maury County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and Mount Pleasant Police Department officers arrested Wall on Friday. He was booked into the Maury County Jail and is being held on $500,000 bond.

Mitchell is currently incarcerated at the Giles County Jail on unrelated charges. She will be transported to the Maury County Jail where she will be booked on $200,000 bond.

The four-month investigation involved collecting evidence from the fire scene and witness interviews. Investigators worked to determine the cause and origin of the blaze that damaged the residential structure.

Legal Proceedings Continue

Both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. The charges represent accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence of guilt.

The Tennessee Arson Hotline encourages anyone with information about intentionally set fires to call 1-800-762-3017. The hotline provides a way for citizens to report suspicious fire activity to state investigators.

The case highlights efforts by state and local authorities to investigate suspicious fires and prosecute arson cases. TBI special agent fire investigators regularly assist local departments with complex fire investigations across Tennessee.
