Strong Thunderstorm Tracks Toward Humboldt Area Early Friday
A strong thunderstorm packing 40 mph wind gusts and half-inch hail was moving through West Tennessee early Friday, threatening 17 communities near Humboldt.
HUMBOLDT, TENNESSEE β A strong thunderstorm was moving northeast toward several West Tennessee communities early Friday morning, prompting the National Weather Service in Memphis to issue a Special Weather Statement at 3:36 a.m. CDT on June 26.
Doppler radar showed the storm near Alamo, approximately 14 miles west of Humboldt, advancing at 15 mph at the time of the alert.
Hazards and Potential Impacts
The National Weather Service identified two primary hazards associated with the storm: wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph and hail up to half an inch in diameter. Both hazards were radar-indicated.
Officials warned that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and send unsecured objects airborne. Minor hail damage to vegetation was also considered possible in affected areas.

Residents in these communities were advised to secure loose outdoor items and remain aware of changing weather conditions. The storm was expected to continue moving northeast as the statement was issued.
The National Weather Service office in Memphis, Tennessee issued the alert and continues to monitor the system via radar.
