DETROIT, MICHIGAN β Several Michigan political organizations have released their endorsements for the August 2026 primary election, with candidates for federal, state, and local offices receiving backing from groups representing diverse interests across the political spectrum.
Equality Michigan Action Network announced its first round of endorsements, focusing on candidates for the Michigan House of Representatives, Michigan Senate, Michigan Supreme Court, and Michigan State University Board of Trustees who have demonstrated commitment to protecting and advancing LGBTQ+ equality.
Congressional Race Endorsements
We the People Action Fund announced their Congressional endorsements for the August 4 primary, including Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate, William Lawrence for the 7th Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Detroit) for the 12th Congressional District and state Rep. Donavan McKinney (D-Detroit) for the 13th Congressional District.
The Common Defense Action Fund has endorsed U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed as he seeks the Democratic nomination. El-Sayed also received support from the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, though that group endorsed William Lawrence in Michigan’s 7th Congressional District Democratic primary.

Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 2 of Michigan has endorsed Matt Maasdam as he seeks the Democratic nomination for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District. The race has drawn significant attention with multiple candidates receiving organizational backing.
The Detroit Regional Chamber Political Action Committee announced its initial slate of endorsements for the 2026 election cycle, backing a group of candidates from both major parties for the U.S. House of Representatives, Michigan Senate, and Michigan House of Representatives.
United Auto Workers Region 1 endorsed state Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Bloomfield) for a Democratic nomination, according to the organization’s announcement.
