Flood Advisory Issued for Northwest Florida, Southwest Alabama Communities
National Weather Service issues flood advisories for northwest Florida and southwest Alabama as heavy thunderstorms dump 1-2 inches of rain on the region.

PENSACOLA, FLORIDA β The National Weather Service issued flood advisories early Tuesday morning for parts of northwest Florida and southwest Alabama as heavy thunderstorms brought 1 to 2 inches of rainfall to the region.
The weather service warned of minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas across southeastern Baldwin County in southwestern Alabama and south central Escambia County in northwestern Florida. The advisory remained in effect until 4:45 AM Central Daylight Time.
Doppler radar detected heavy rain from thunderstorms at 1:47 AM CDT, with flooding expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Heavy rain continued to fall across the same locations that had already received significant rainfall accumulation.
Affected Communities
Multiple communities faced potential flooding impacts from the storm system. In the Alabama-Florida border region, affected areas included Warrington, Lillian, Perdido Beach, Elberta, Perdido Heights, Paradise Beach, Perdido Bay, Chanticleer, Seaglades, Millview, Pleasant Grove, Quinavista, Miflin and Beach Haven.
A separate flood advisory covered southeastern Escambia County and south central Santa Rosa County in northwestern Florida until 3:45 AM CDT. That advisory, issued at 1:43 AM CDT, affected Gulf Breeze, Oriole Beach, Pensacola Beach and Villa Sabine.
Weather Conditions and Impacts
The National Weather Service reported that between 1 to 2 inches of rain had already fallen in the advisory areas, with additional rainfall expected over the following half hour in some locations. The excessive rainfall created conditions for minor flooding in vulnerable areas.
Weather officials noted that low-lying areas and locations with poor drainage systems would experience the most significant impacts from the heavy rainfall. The thunderstorms produced concentrated downpours that overwhelmed typical drainage capacity in affected communities.
Regional Weather Pattern
The flood advisories were part of a broader weather pattern affecting the Gulf Coast region during the early morning hours Tuesday. The National Weather Service Mobile office issued both advisories as part of their monitoring of the developing storm system.
Residents in the affected areas were advised to avoid driving through flooded roads and to exercise caution in low-lying areas where water accumulation was most likely to occur. The weather service continued monitoring conditions throughout the advisory period.
