Flood Watch Cancelled for Kansas City Area
National Weather Service officials lifted flood concerns for the metro area as conditions improved Monday afternoon.

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI β The National Weather Service has cancelled the Flood Watch that was previously in effect for the Kansas City metropolitan area, officials announced Monday.
The cancellation means flooding conditions that prompted the initial watch are no longer expected to develop or have sufficiently diminished to remove the threat to public safety.
Watch Details
The Flood Watch had been issued to alert residents and emergency officials of potential flooding conditions in the region. Such watches are typically issued when weather conditions could lead to flooding within 12 to 48 hours.
The National Weather Service monitors river levels, rainfall amounts, and weather patterns to determine when flood conditions may develop or subside.
Current Conditions
With the watch cancellation, normal weather monitoring and reporting procedures resume for the Kansas City area. Residents no longer need to take precautionary measures related to potential flooding that prompted the original advisory.
The weather service continues to monitor conditions throughout the region and will issue new advisories if weather patterns change or new threats develop.
Local emergency management officials had been prepared to respond to potential flooding situations while the watch remained in effect.
