WARREN, OHIO β€” Minor flooding is occurring along Eagle Creek at Phalanx Station in Trumbull County, with conditions expected to persist through late tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

The flood warning, issued Sunday at 6:37 PM EDT, remains in effect until 3:20 AM EDT Monday. At 6:00 PM Sunday, the river stage measured 9.8 feet, above the 9.5-foot flood stage.

Road Closures and Impacts

Three roadways will become flooded and impassable if water levels reach 11.0 feet. Barclay Messerly Road, McConnell East, and Knowlton Roads would be affected at that stage, according to weather service officials.

The current flooding is classified as minor, but residents and motorists should exercise caution when traveling in the area.

Water Level Forecast

The Eagle Creek is expected to fall slightly to 9.7 feet Sunday evening before rising again to 10.7 feet later tonight. Water levels should drop below flood stage late Sunday evening, reaching 5.9 feet by Tuesday evening.

Following a brief rise to 6.0 feet Tuesday evening, the creek is forecast to fall again and remain below flood stage in the coming days.

Safety Precautions

Weather service meteorologists emphasized flood safety during the ongoing event. Officials recommend that drivers avoid attempting to cross flooded roadways, as even shallow moving water can sweep vehicles away.

Residents in low-lying areas near Eagle Creek should monitor conditions closely and be prepared to move to higher ground if water levels continue to rise unexpectedly.

The National Weather Service advises checking road conditions before traveling and visiting weather.gov/safety/flood for comprehensive flood safety and preparedness information. Local emergency management officials are monitoring the situation and will provide updates if conditions change.

Trumbull County typically experiences seasonal flooding during spring months due to snowmelt and increased rainfall. The current flood warning affects the specific gauge location at Phalanx Station, where water levels are continuously monitored by automated equipment.
