Born in 1991 as Rayshawn Bennett in Atlanta, YFN Lucci grew up listening to Tupac Shakur, Ja Rule, Fabolous, and Lil Wayne. His father emigrated from Jamaica and came to America. At the age of 16, Rayshawn discovered his talent for rapping and music. Rapper Johnny Cinco encouraged him to start a career. And his brother is also a rapper, going by the name YFN Kay.
