Purpose of TEST Warnings
The NWS National Tsunami Warning Center periodically issues TEST alerts to evaluate the readiness of communication systems and emergency notification networks across coastal regions. These exercises help ensure that alerts reach all designated zones quickly and accurately in the event of a real tsunami threat.
No action was required by the public in response to this TEST message. Residents who received the alert through weather radios, mobile devices, or other notification systems were advised that the warning was a drill and not an indication of any actual seismic or oceanic event.
