The statement, issued at 5:21 a.m. EDT on June 29, warns that fog conditions will persist through approximately 8 a.m. before warming temperatures mix out the moisture.
Rapidly Changing Visibility
Drivers should be aware that visibility can shift dramatically over short distances in areas where fog is locally dense, according to the National Weather Service. Conditions may appear clear in one stretch of road and drop significantly within just a few hundred feet.
The NWS Mount Holly office emphasized that motorists who encounter fog should switch to low beam headlights and increase following distance between vehicles to allow for adequate stopping time.
