Michigan Political Endorsements Shape 2026 Senate and Congressional Races
Former Rep. Mike Rogers gains five state legislator endorsements for Senate while multiple candidates secure backing in Michigan’s competitive congressional races.

LANSING, MICHIGAN β A flurry of political endorsements this week highlighted the competitive nature of Michigan’s 2026 federal races, with candidates for U.S. Senate and congressional seats securing backing from prominent officials and organizations.
Senate Race Endorsements
Former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers of White Lake gained support from five Republican state representatives in his bid for the U.S. Senate. State Reps. William Bruck of Erie Township, Joseph Aragona of Clinton Township, Jaime Greene of Richmond, Alicia St. Germaine of Harrison Township, and Greg Alexander of Carsonville announced their endorsements of Rogers this week.
On the Democratic side of the Senate race, U.S. Rep. Delia RamΓrez of Illinois endorsed Abdul El-Sayed for the Democratic nomination. U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens continued building her endorsement coalition with backing from U.S. Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware and former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm.
7th Congressional District Competition
The Democratic primary for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District saw several notable endorsements. U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont threw his support behind William Lawrence for the Democratic nomination.
Former Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink received endorsements from Lansing Mayor Andy Schor and a slate of seven former public school district superintendents from across the district. Labor organizations also weighed in, with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Michigan State Conference and the Sheet Metal Air Rail and Transportation Workers endorsing Matt Maasdam for the Democratic nomination.
Gubernatorial Race Development
Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson secured an endorsement in her pursuit of the Democratic gubernatorial nomination from the 13th Congressional District Democrats, according to her campaign announcement.
The endorsement activity reflects the intensifying competition as candidates work to build coalitions ahead of the 2026 primary elections. Multiple contested races at both the federal and state levels are drawing attention from local officials, labor unions, and national political figures.
Rogers, who previously served in Congress representing Michigan’s 8th District, is seeking to return to federal office through the Senate race. His endorsements from state legislators represent support from various regions of southeastern Michigan.
The 7th Congressional District race has attracted candidates with diverse backgrounds, from diplomatic service to local activism, each building distinct endorsement profiles that reflect different constituencies within the Democratic Party.
