ATLANTA, GEORGIA — The University of North Alabama beach volleyball team traveled to the Georgia State University campus this weekend to compete in the GSU Diggin’ Duals Invitational tournament.

The Lions squad made the trip south to participate in the multi-team event hosted by Georgia State University. The tournament brings together collegiate beach volleyball programs from across the region for competitive matches.

Tournament Format and Competition

The GSU Diggin’ Duals Invitational features a series of dual matches between participating universities. Teams compete in multiple pairing combinations throughout the event, providing extensive playing time for student-athletes.

Beach volleyball differs from indoor volleyball with teams of two players per side competing on sand courts. The sport has grown rapidly at the collegiate level over the past decade.

Lions Season Continues

This tournament is another step in the University of North Alabama beach volleyball program’s competitive schedule. The team has been working to build experience against quality opponents from various conferences.

The Lions compete as members of the ASUN Conference, which sponsors beach volleyball as an emerging sport. Student-athletes balance academic responsibilities with their athletic commitments throughout the season.

Program Development

Beach volleyball continues expanding across college campuses in the Southeast. Universities have invested in facilities and coaching staff to support the growing sport.

The GSU Diggin’ Duals Invitational provides an opportunity for teams to face different playing styles and competition levels. These tournaments help programs evaluate their progress and prepare for conference competitions later in the season.

Results from the tournament will be available following completion of all matches. The Lions will return to Alabama to continue preparation for upcoming conference play.
