NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE — Two men connected to the Memphis rap scene, including the father of rapper Pooh Shiesty, appeared in Davidson County court Thursday facing serious felony charges including robbery and kidnapping.

Lontrell Williams Sr., father of chart-topping rapper Pooh Shiesty, and rapper Big30, whose real name is Rodrick Moore, were both present for preliminary hearings on charges stemming from an alleged incident earlier this year.

According to court documents, both men face charges of especially aggravated robbery and especially aggravated kidnapping. The charges carry potential sentences of decades in prison if convicted.

Details of the Allegations

Prosecutors allege the incident occurred in Nashville, though specific details about the circumstances surrounding the alleged crimes have not been released publicly. Court records indicate the charges involve allegations that the defendants unlawfully detained victims while committing robbery.

Both Williams Sr. and Moore appeared before a Davidson County judge Thursday morning. Their attorneys entered not guilty pleas on behalf of their clients during the proceedings.

The especially aggravated nature of the charges indicates prosecutors believe the alleged crimes involved factors that make them more serious under Tennessee law, such as the use of weapons or causing bodily injury to victims.

High-Profile Defendants

Lontrell Williams Sr. is the father of Lontrell Williams Jr., known professionally as Pooh Shiesty, who gained national fame with hits like “Back in Blood” and “Monday to Sunday.” The younger Williams signed with Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records and achieved multiple platinum certifications.

Big30, born Rodrick Moore, is also a prominent figure in the Memphis rap scene and has collaborated with various artists in the industry. He has released several mixtapes and gained recognition for tracks like “Neighborhood Heroes” and collaborations with other Memphis-based rappers.

The rap industry connections have drawn additional attention to the case, though prosecutors emphasized the charges will be handled like any other criminal matter.

Legal Proceedings Move Forward

During Thursday’s hearing, the judge set bond conditions for both defendants. Williams Sr. and Moore were released pending trial after meeting bond requirements set by the court.

Both men are required to check in regularly with court officials and must notify authorities of any travel plans. Additional conditions include staying away from alleged victims and avoiding contact with each other.

The case has been assigned to Davidson County Criminal Court, where both defendants are scheduled to return for future hearings. Prosecutors indicated they plan to present the case to a grand jury for potential indictment.

Defense attorneys for both men declined to comment on the specifics of the case but indicated they plan to vigorously defend their clients against the charges.

If convicted on all charges, both defendants could face significant prison sentences. Tennessee law allows for sentences of 15 to 60 years for especially aggravated robbery and 15 to 60 years for especially aggravated kidnapping, with the possibility of consecutive sentencing.

The next court appearance is scheduled for early next month, when additional evidence may be presented and trial dates could be set.
