Nashville’s Riverside Drive Closing for RiverBeat Festival Setup
A key downtown Nashville road will shut down this week as crews set up stages and vendors for the popular RiverBeat Festival along the Cumberland River.

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE — Riverside Drive will temporarily close to vehicle traffic this week as crews prepare for the annual RiverBeat Festival, officials announced Monday.
The closure will affect the stretch of Riverside Drive between Korean Veterans Boulevard and Woodland Street Bridge starting Wednesday morning. The road will remain closed through the festival weekend, with reopening scheduled for Monday morning following cleanup operations.
Festival organizers expect the closure will allow sufficient time for stage construction, vendor setup, and safety preparations for the three-day music event scheduled for this weekend along the Cumberland River.
Traffic Detour Routes
Metro Nashville Public Works has established alternate routes for drivers who regularly use Riverside Drive during the closure period. Motorists are advised to use Korean Veterans Boulevard and Interstate 40 as primary detour options.
“We’re working closely with festival organizers to minimize disruption while ensuring public safety during setup and the event,” said Metro Public Works officials in a statement.
Local residents and businesses in the area received advance notice of the closure through community outreach efforts coordinated between city departments and festival management.
Festival Details and Economic Impact
The RiverBeat Festival features multiple music stages showcasing local and regional artists across various genres. The event draws thousands of attendees annually to the downtown Nashville riverfront area.
This year’s festival is expected to generate significant revenue for local businesses, particularly restaurants and hotels in the downtown corridor. Previous festivals have contributed an estimated $2.3 million in economic impact to the Nashville area.
Food vendors, merchandise booths, and family-friendly activities will occupy the closed section of Riverside Drive throughout the weekend. Festival organizers have coordinated with Metro Nashville Police Department for crowd control and traffic management.
Public Transportation and Parking
Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority will maintain regular bus service on routes that do not directly use the closed section of Riverside Drive. Alternative stops have been designated for affected routes during the closure period.
Festival parking will be available at designated lots with shuttle service to the main event area. Attendees are encouraged to use rideshare services or public transportation to reduce congestion in surrounding neighborhoods.
City officials remind residents that parking restrictions will be enforced in nearby residential areas during the festival weekend. Additional signage has been posted to inform residents of temporary parking limitations.
The closure is part of ongoing efforts by Nashville officials to balance large-scale community events with maintaining transportation access for residents and businesses. Similar temporary closures have been implemented successfully for other major events in the downtown area.
Festival gates open Friday evening, with performances continuing through Sunday night. Complete event schedules and transportation information are available on the RiverBeat Festival website and Nashville city government portal.
