Flood Warning Extended Through Tuesday Morning for Central Ohio
National Weather Service extends flood warning through Tuesday morning as rising water levels threaten central Ohio communities.

COLUMBUS, OHIO — The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for central Ohio that will remain in effect until Tuesday morning at 4:00 AM, according to weather officials.
The warning, issued by the NWS Pittsburgh office at 11:43 AM on Friday, covers areas of Franklin County and surrounding regions where rising water levels pose risks to residents and motorists.
Current Conditions and Affected Areas
Weather service meteorologists report that recent rainfall combined with snowmelt has caused water levels to rise in local creeks and streams throughout the Columbus metropolitan area. The warning encompasses low-lying areas prone to flooding during heavy precipitation events.
Officials from the National Weather Service said conditions will continue to deteriorate through the weekend before improvement begins early next week.
Safety Recommendations
Emergency management officials urge residents to avoid driving through flooded roadways and to stay away from swollen creeks and streams. Standing water on roads can be deeper than it appears and may conceal dangerous conditions underneath.
The weather service advises anyone who encounters flood waters while driving to turn around immediately and find an alternate route. Just six inches of moving water can knock a person down, while twelve inches can carry away a vehicle.
Extended Forecast
Additional rainfall is possible through Monday, which could extend flooding in already saturated areas. Residents in flood-prone neighborhoods should monitor conditions closely and be prepared to move to higher ground if necessary.
The National Weather Service will continue to monitor river and stream levels throughout the warning period and will update forecasts as conditions change. Local emergency management agencies are coordinating with weather officials to track the situation.
This flood warning affects multiple counties in central Ohio, with the most significant impacts expected in areas near major waterways and in neighborhoods with poor drainage systems.
