NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE — Country music legend Dolly Parton announced a significant financial contribution to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, calling the donation “generational and transformational” for pediatric healthcare in Middle Tennessee.

The philanthropic commitment from Parton will support essential medical services and facility improvements at the children’s hospital, according to Vanderbilt University Medical Center officials. Hospital administrators described the gift as one of the largest individual donations in the facility’s history.

“This donation will have a profound impact on the children and families we serve,” said Dr. C. Wright Pinson, deputy chief executive officer and chief health system officer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. “Dolly’s generosity will help us continue providing world-class pediatric care.”

Expanding Pediatric Services

The donation will fund expansion of specialized pediatric programs and enhance the hospital’s ability to treat complex medical conditions in children. Hospital officials said the contribution will support both immediate patient care needs and long-term infrastructure development.

Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital serves patients from across Tennessee and surrounding states, providing specialized care in areas including cardiac surgery, cancer treatment, and neonatal intensive care. The facility treats more than 270,000 patients annually.

Parton’s Philanthropic Legacy

The healthcare donation continues Parton’s extensive charitable work in Tennessee and beyond. Her Dollywood Foundation has supported education initiatives for decades, including the Imagination Library program that provides free books to children.

Parton previously contributed to COVID-19 vaccine research and has funded numerous community projects throughout East Tennessee. Her latest gift to the children’s hospital represents her ongoing commitment to improving lives in her home state.

“I’ve always believed in giving back to the community that raised me,” Parton said in a statement. “Children’s healthcare is something close to my heart, and I’m honored to support the incredible work being done at this hospital.”

Hospital Recognition

Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital has received national recognition for its pediatric programs and patient care quality. The facility ranks among the top children’s hospitals in the country according to U.S. News & World Report.

Hospital officials said they will announce specific programs and projects funded by Parton’s donation in the coming months. The contribution will be recognized through naming opportunities within the medical center.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center plans to host a formal recognition ceremony to honor Parton’s contribution to pediatric healthcare in Nashville. The event will highlight the hospital’s mission to provide comprehensive medical care for children and families across the region.
