MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE — A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized after being struck by an SUV in the Whitehaven area Monday evening, according to Memphis Police Department officials.
The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 4200 block of Elvis Presley Boulevard, police reported. Emergency responders transported the juvenile to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
Investigation Underway
Memphis police officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities, according to initial reports from the scene.
Traffic investigators have not yet determined whether charges will be filed in connection with the incident. The specific cause of the collision remains under investigation.
Area Traffic Impact
The crash prompted temporary lane closures along Elvis Presley Boulevard as police documented the scene and cleared the roadway. Normal traffic flow was restored within several hours of the incident.
